We're well underway with our commitment to scope out new restaurants around the area. Although we still get back to our favorites, we've set a goal of two new spots a month. Some will make it to our site with full reviews, others we'll just share here in the newsletter. We went to Tavolata Stone Way, an Ethan Stowell restaurant, for a Lambrusco paired dinner. We'd been meaning to get there for some time, and a wine paired dinner was the perfect excuse. Food was great, we learned a lot about Lambrusco, and we'll go back to dine with the regular menu. There are several locations, so you may find one closer to you. Website here. We're always looking for a good steakhouse. While we enjoy the classics around town, sometimes we're looking for something a little less swank - a jeans and t-shirt kind of place rather than white tablecloths. We checked out Asadero Prime (in Kent) with friends and it meets the casual vibe we were looking for. We had the Vacio Wagyu, thick and tender, served on a hot stone. Friends ordered the wagyu parillas (tacos). Delicious choices and worthy of a return visit. They also have a location in Ballard. Reservations are tough on the weekends, so plan in advance. Website here. We also took a short repositioning cruise on Holland America's Koningsdam as it moved from Vancouver (home for its Alaska season) to San Diego (for the winter season). The itinerary was for four nights, with only one port of call, Astoria. Last minute deals and repositioning itineraries are a great way to have a cruise experience at a fraction of what a typical booking might cost. Holland America (and other cruise lines) have ships sailing out of both Seattle and Vancouver, making a last minute decision value-packed (no last minute airfare, just drive and park). Keep checking the websites of your favorite cruise line for special last minute and repositioning fares. I've had regular text messages and photos, and the pace sound hectic and exhausting. Interspersed with game play, they've been exploring the city (he's not spent much time there), eating and drinking well, and when he gets...

We've had terrific weather here in the Seattle area, and I've reduced the hours I'm spending in front of a screen writing, instead opting for time on the deck reading, connecting with friends, and taking care of a few home projects. Those home projects have taken...

The yacht joined the Windstar line up in December, with a capacity for 224 guests, all ocean-view suites. It stopped in Seattle on its re-positioning cruise, and will now...
